Questions to people who know what they’re doing.

lefthandedjanice:

I’m highly considering breeding mice so I can stop buying food (or at least cut down on buying it) for my snake.

1) How many female mice would I need? I’m only supporting a 3 month old corn snake, so I don’t need a lot of mice.

2) How do I kill them? I refuse to feed him live prey, but I want to kill them as humanely as possible.

You’ll want to get one to two females with one male, and separate the males from the females after each litter so that you can keep your mouse population under control. Mice can have anywhere from (Approximately, give or take a few) three to fifteen babies in one litter. As for killing the babies, put them in the freezer. Freezing to death is similar to going to sleep, so it does not hurt the babies :)
